Shon Racicot – Master Bootfitter & Co-Owner of The Boot Pro Ski Shop

Shon Racicot, Master Bootfitter and co-owner of The Boot Pro, is a lifetime resident of Ludlow, Vermont, started his career in the ski industry in 1986. Throughout his career he worked tuning skis, bootfitting, selling skis and was a store manager for almost 20 years.  In 2008 he and his wife, Alex, opened The Boot Pro Ski Shop on the corner of the Okemo Access Road in Ludlow.

Bootfitting has always been Shon’s passion, and is the cornerstone of this full-service ski shop. A 17-time attendee of Masterfit University, SKI Magazine called “Bootfitter Shon Racicot, Okemo’s local secret…..a miracle worker” (2007).

Alex Racicot is a 12 year veteran ski instructor having taught at Sugarbush, Portillo Chile, Mt. Ascutney & Magic Mountain.  More recently she owned and operated an import business for 15 years working closely with factories in Mexico.  Alex directs all administrative and marketing aspects of The Boot Pro as well as helping out on the boot bench.  She’s attended several of Masterfit U’s courses in bootfitting and she loves to help skiers achieve the next level of performance through their equipment.

Alex Racicot – Co-Owner of The Boot Pro Ski Shop

The Boot Pro’s lab is located in the heart of the shop where customers can watch Shon and his staff at work. Many of the tools have been specially made to Shon’s specifications to facilitate precision modifications.

The staff at the Boot Pro prides themselves on being able to identify and accommodate an athlete’s biomechanical imbalances. Standard services include:

  • custom footbeds
  • heater installation
  • shell and liner modification
  • stance analysis and balancing
  • canting
  • custom liners
  • boot sole planing
  • lifter installation

The shop is located close to Okemo’s slopes so fine tuning and adjustments are extremely convenient.

Shon firmly believes that integrating custom footbeds with the ski boot will provide a skier with stability far superior to that provided by the stock insole of the boot. Sales of custom insoles equal sales of ski boots at The Boot Pro – a statistic which speaks for itself.

A Carefully Chosen Selection of Skis & Boots

The selection of skis and boots is carefully chosen to offer the best quality and performance for the price. All levels of skier can find equipment that will match their skills and budget.

The tuning department features the latest in Wintersteiger equipment and is run by  Randy Haskell, John Lienhard, and Matt Maxham who together have almost 75 years of tuning experience. The shop offers all levels of tuning services with an emphasis on serving the ski race community and their specific ski race tuning needs.
