Ski Like a Pro with V-Edge Technology
Ski Like a Pro with V-Edge Technology
As seasons come and go, technology progresses & our favorite winter gear gets better and better. And, it’s no secret that behind every great ski—and skier—is a great ski tune (and tuning technician)! The Boot Pro has a long history of using Wintersteiger equipment in our Service Center. We understand that a flat base, clean structure, and precise edges can make or break the performance of even the best skis. And just like any piece of great ski gear, we need to upgrade our ski tuning equipment to ensure your bases and edges are up to our high-performance standards.
The Boot Pro recently acquired the new Jupiter tuning machine from Wintersteiger. Our Mercury model had a good run, cranking out tunes for almost a decade. But, we’re a shop that strives to be the best at everything we do, so it was time to invest in the latest and most advanced technology available.
One of only 7 Jupiter machines in New England, ours sits just a few feet longer than the Mercury, but it packs a bunch of new features. In fact, the U.S. Ski Team uses the same tuning machine at their headquarters in Park City.
What is V-Edge Technology?
Let’s start with one of the coolest new features of the Jupiter: variable edge bevels. The precision of Wintersteiger’s V-Edge technology is unique, giving our technicians the ability to determine how much and where the variable bevel starts and ends. This increases the skier's fun and enhances their safety - meaning perfection for everyone!
So what does a variable edge mean to you as a skier?
More bevel in the tip and tail of the ski provides a smooth entry and exit, in and out of the turn. (no more catching your tips!) Less bevel underfoot gives you more edge control and bite on hard snow. (no more skidding on ice!)
The Jupiter has an additional module compared to our Mercury which polishes your edges and provides an exceptionally smooth finish.
The possibilities of tunes coming out of this machine are endless, giving our technicians the ability to provide a tune for everyone’s specific needs. Whether you’re a mogul skier, racer, beginner or all mountain ripper we’re psyched to show you how a tune from The Boot Pro can maximize your skiing experience!
The Boot Pro’s Service Center manager, Randy Haskell, has a long history tuning skis for teams and athletes from all over the world. Randy and our experienced tuning technicians are going to look at each pair of skis in your collection and recommend what they think is best for you, the skier. Some of the work may still be done by hand, but the majority of it can be done by the new Jupiter. And it will happen quickly—overnight in most cases.
So bring the whole quiver and experience the latest in ski tuning technology expertly delivered to you by our experienced staff. The Boot Pro shop is located at the bottom of Okemo Resort access road. For more information, call (802) 228-2776.
