ski boot height and fit

Question:

Hi, My name is Daniel. I am looking for ski boots for my wife. I ride a snow board so im not that familiar with ski boots and its fit. My wife is a beginner skier that always complains of calf pain when skiing. She is 5 feet tall. She has always used rental boots but I would like to buy and custom fit a pair of ski boots. She has never enjoyed a full day of ski because of the calf pain. I would like to know if their are ski boots designed for petite skiers or do you recommend a brand in particular.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Answer:

Greetings Daniel.
We never like someone’s ski day to be cut short because of boot pain. Calf pain specifically, often means the boot is not fitting well and/or there is a lack of balance. A properly fit boot would certainly be the 1st step. Each brand usually has a narrow, average and wide option. All boots are different. Ideally we can assess the foot and give great guidance with that information.
There are not necessarily specific ski boots for petite skiers. However, it is important to always focus on fit and also keep in mind the proper flex of boot. A 5 foot tall, petite, novice skier will not want to get a boot that is too stiff.  Hope this helps. Please come on in if possible, so we can guide you to a good purchase.
